New Dentures
Full Set of Dentures
If you’ve lost your teeth due to injury, tooth decay or gum disease, new dentures can replace them. Dentures will restore your ability to eat and speak and give you back your confidence by improving your appearance and smile.
Making a denture is a process that usually takes about 2-4 weeks. It also depends on the type of the denture and the technique your denturist uses to make the denture.
Denture Adjustments
While we take great care to make you a well fitting denture, there is no such thing as a perfect denture. After receiving your new dentures, you’ll likely need to visit your denturist for a few adjustments as you and your new denture to adapt to each other. The most important thing to know is that adjusting to your new dentures is a process that takes a bit of time to get used to.
New dentures can also alter your eating and speaking habits and you may need a lot of practice before you get comfortable. Finally, because of differences in jaw shapes and the strong muscle movement of the tongue and cheek, a lower denture may be harder to keep in the mouth than an upper denture.
Cosmetic Denture Options
There are several new advances in dentures. One of these is the option to have a permanent dentures, also called a denture implant, which is a cosmetic denture that remains in your mouth and functions very much like normal teeth. The other option where only a few teeth need to be replaced is to have dental impacts. The latter type is done by a dentist or dental implant surgeon before the denture is made.
